I have tried setting the service length to 10 minutes and padding before and after to 0 and still appointments appear in 15 minute intervals. Is there any way in the free version to change the default 15 intervals for appointment times?

There is no way to change the default 15 mins interval in free version. This option is only supported in Pro Business. You can go to our live demo website to have a try.
